The Caesarea Ralli Museum consists of a pair of collections with a focus on Latin American and Spanish pieces of contemporary art. You’ll find works by Salvador Dalí and Auguste Rodin, among other illustrious masters, in the displays gracing the walls of these two museums. Relax near the fountains and palm trees of the green park containing the galleries.
Stop in front of Ralli Museum 1 to appreciate its intriguing Spanish colonial style. Arrive on a sunny day and go for a walk around the scenic grounds with your family. Beside the museum is a large sculpture garden adorned with olive, citrus and palm trees. Enter the museum and explore its five display areas for their art installations.
Admire the wooden fixtures, red terracotta floor and tiled mosaics that complement the Spanish design. Climb to the upper level and marvel at the marble, bronze and acrylic sculptures backed by a vista of the Mediterranean Sea and the Roman Aqueduct.
Make your way to Ralli Museum 2, which has a Moorish design. At its core stands a spacious courtyard with a fountain draped in 12 sculpted lions. Enter the gallery and inspect its collection of biblical paintings from the 16th to 18th centuries.
The museums commemorate the Jews who were forced to leave Spain and Portugal during the Inquisition as well as those from the settlement of Thessaloniki, where most resident Jews were killed during the Holocaust. The institution has similar museums in Uruguay, Chile and Spain.
Note that you can access the galleries all week, except Wednesdays and Sundays. They open from morning until late afternoon and are free to enter.
Find the two parts of the Caesarea Ralli Museum in a large park on the eastern side of Caesarea. Take a bus to the stop on the main street along the museum’s western side. While here visit other nearby sights such as the Caesarea Center Country Club, the Caesarea Youth Center and the Birds Mosaic.
