"It feels strange to have to walk inside the hotel barefeet. Worrying when they have guests push the big luggages around. Almost got foot run over by these luggages inside the elevator. "

If you’re fortunate enough to get a room with a private onsen, you can enjoy all manner of luxury beyond the available public onsen facilities. "Nice property just off the main street, near train station. It is pet friendly with 3 resident cats roaming around the lobby. You get to book 2 sessions at the baths after checked in, the semi open bath on the 2nd level is popular, while the rooftop bath may not be a good idea in cold weather although the view is great. You get free use of the bicycles for your stay. There is no lift so you have to carry your luggages up and down the stairs."

"We stayed in a room with a private indoor and outdoor bath. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing experience. Check in and check out were a breeze and all of the staff were wonderfully welcoming. Dinner and breakfast were delicious and the short walk into town allowed us to explore all of the charming shops and restaurants that Yufuin had to offer."

"I loved the onsen options in Hoteiya. All the shared onsens are private and has different layouts for you to experience. The onsens in the room are also the perfect size and temperature. Huge kudos to the staff for being super attentive and providing detailed explanation of the property and for providing the right size clothing. Absolutely would return if I ever came back to Kyushu."
