"The hotel has a ‘no-guest-policy’ and does not allow drivers or anyone but the resident on the property. I had booked a room for two people, even though I stayed by myself. Even then, the driver was not allowed to go inside the hallway, and the lobby. It is a standard practice in India for hotels to foresee a space/room/facility for drivers.
