Bandon Beach

Explore Oregon’s beautiful southern coast at this beach in Bandon, where you can see wildlife, a historic lighthouse and the humanoid Face Rock.

Bandon Beach is located in the charming coastal town of Bandon in Southern Oregon. Enjoy exceptional golf courses, sandy dunes and miles of pristine beach for a relaxing getaway.

Visit Face Rock State Scenic Viewpoint to catch a glimpse of the legendary rock. American Indian lore says that you can hear a maiden’s voice on the wind here. Stand on the cliff to easily make out the visage on Face Rock. Follow a pleasant trail leading directly to the beach.

Spot some of Oregon’s coastal wildlife at Coquille Point. This mainland outpost of Oregon Islands Wildlife Refuge makes exploring easy with a paved trail that traverses the headland. It is accompanied by informative panels about the area’s wildlife and Native American history. During your walk, look for seabirds and harbour seals and perhaps even spot a whale in the distance.

Bandon Beach spans the length of the town’s coastline. Bandon is located where the mighty Coquille River meets the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy scenic views across the river to Coquille River Lighthouse, located at the headlands of Bullard Beach State Park. This historic lighthouse has been guiding ships through fog and rain since 1896.

Take a break from beachcombing and sunbathing and test your swing at one the five premier golf courses located in Bandon. The most popular, Bandon Dunes, is modelled after traditional Scottish golf courses.

There is no shortage of things to do and see in Bandon. Between swimming, boating off the beach, horseback riding, hiking the inland trails and even exploring the area’s famous cranberry bogs, you will be entertained for days.

Bandon Beach is conveniently located just minutes off Highway 101. This north-to-south highway, which runs the length of America’s west coast, is one of the most iconic routes in the country. It is about a 1.5-hour drive south to the California border and about five hours north to Portland.
