"Traveling from Denmark to Norway, so had a stop over here , friendly close to fuel shops etc nice big room it could do with a little TLC but it's not bad , breakfast was very good, I'd recommend it for a short stay , definitely "

"The hotel was in a good location. The rooms were clean and of a good size (family room). The sofa bed was acceptable for a child but Iess so for an adult, as expected. The breakfast was very good, plenty of options in the buffet and one of the staff even offered to make fresh pancakes for the kids, which was very well received. "Absolutely enjoyed 10 days on this historic property! The property is adjacent to the fortress and the hotel is a converted Soldiers barracks. A sense of tranquility and peacefulness surrounds you when you walk around the property. The property is well maintained and oversees the city of Halden. The staff made my family feel like home. The staff were professional and kind; they made us feel welcomed. The staff checked on our family when we were off the property for over 24 hours to ensure we were ok and safe. The daily breakfast buffet was delicious with an array of local, organic, cold and hot items. The dining area is clean and have the best lasagna on their dinner menu. We plan to return to Norway and plan to return to the Fredriksten! "

Worst bathroom / Best breakfast

"10 day visit around Norway staying in different places. Worst bathroom on trip. Shower was not built in, with only a shower curtain, which did not prevent water flooding the bathroom. Best breakfast on trip. The buffet was excellent, with a good variety of hot and cold food. Good, central location and relaxed atmosphere"
