NH Caransa is located near Rembrandtplien, a busy area in Amsterdam. As a result, the tram traffic to the hotel is frequent, and the area is often noisey. Rooms at the front of the hotel are affected by the outdoor noise. It appears that the hotel is about 50 years old, yet the facilities seem to be in working order. The hotel lacks a lobby because the space has been rented to ground floor restaurants.

I have stayed at many NH branded hotels in Amsterdam during the last 12 years. The NH Caransa today is the only affordable hotel among them. It is a fine place.

The location was perfect. The hotel was extremely clean and the staff were fantastic. Breakfast could have been better and not all the options were available. The shower soaked the bathroom floor and the room got very warm.

Excellent location: within walking distance of most sights and museums. However, standard room was much smaller than advertised and with insufficient lighting, insufficient closet space and not a single drawer. The only towel rail in the bathroom was 10cm from the ceiling.

Great location in Rembrantplein, the #4 and #14 tram are literally right outside the door, and Waterlooplein metro is just a short walk away. Can get noisy during Friday and Saturday nights, but adds to overall fun and reminds you you are right in the middle of it all. They are in the process of upgrading rooms with A/C. We initially had a room without and it was a bit warm. We asked the desk, and they upgraded us to a room with A/C for the next night and subsequent nights (didn't have availability the 1st night). The staff didn't have to do that, but went above and beyond to do so; Top notch customer service!

I really like the area so close to walk in in everything. The staff so friendly and approachable especially the house keeper the Filipina her name Cristina she so helpful and friendly and smile person. The area so nice we definitely go back in this hotel. Oh by way it’s a nice accessible.

Checking in was smooth and easy, and we were able to do so early! Our stay was extremely comfortable and affordable for such a great location. The room did smell a bit but as we were really just using it as a place to shower and rest we didn't make it a big deal. Couldn't figure out how to use the blow dryer and whoever was on duty that night was kind enough to come up and show me! Appreciated the baggage hold after checking out as well, really made a diifference.

Our 1st time staying in a central hotel in Amsterdam. The hotel is perfectly convenient for all your needs. There are some lovely restaurants and cafe's near by. The hotel was lovely and clean, the staff always appeared happy and accomodating. The room we had was very spacious, with a huge window that you could open up slightly. The room was a little cold (i would rather be cold, my partner prefers the warmth) there was an oil heater in the room on arrival. This helped and took the chill out of the room! The beds were a little uncomfortable for us and could of been abit firmer (personal choice). I would consider staying here again.

Perfect location!
The location on the north side of Rembrandt Square gave us walking access to everything Amsterdam has to offer: museums, churches, the National Ballet and Opera, restaurants, coffee shops, an Albert Hein grocery store, and the Pathe Tuchinski (the oldest and most beautiful movie theater in Europe!). The tram stops right out front for easy access to Amsterdam Centraal train station and most of the city. Their sister hotel, the NH Schiller is directly across the square with a lovely tavern and cafe. An offer to forego room service at the Carnasa gave us 2 drink tickets daily to have a nice cold Heineken at the Schiller's bar. Nice perk! The staff was so accomodating, from Ainhoa helping me with a reservation snafu before arrival, to Marta at the front desk finding us the perfect room for our 16 day stay. The room attendants made our stay smooth and comfortable, even without daily service. Clean towels, coffee and bottled water was graciously provided upon request, with a big shout out especially to Nikita who always smiled at my requests and Christina's cheerful welcome to us on day one. Rutger made sure a room problem was handled immediately the very next morning to make our long stay more pleasurable. The rooms are not large, but adequate, clean and comfy. Keep in mind the hotel is located on a busy, popular square so it can get noisy when bar patrons are let out at 4am, but the positives about this nice hotel far outweigh the noise.
