"We are a party that booked 3 rooms at Kai Aso for 2 nights. Whilst the English speaking reception staff were always helpful, unfortunately one room, No 11, was totally inadequate & substandard. Room floor heating was not working both nights. Whilst the room temp showed 30C, it felt like 20 max 23C. It was very cold both nights, outside temp dropped to 0C both nights. "Great location and helpful staff. The staff took care of everything for us including assuring our in room hot tub was working perfectly. We bought the three onsen pass and enjoyed going to three other location. We also went to Onsen Yumerindo which has a great outdoor onsen. Wonderful relaxing two nights."

"We booked the hotel the day of the trip as we had change plans due to Typhoon Haishen. When we entrance to the hotel was blocked with a rope and they did not answer the phone. There was noone to get any information, we did not get a cancellation or a notification. We were left in the typhoon with nowhere to go and struggled to find anything for hours during when the weather got really bad. We had to drive under fallen trees, get out of the car to pull branches off road and hide in someone’s...

"Very special property that we loved. We stayed in January and esp loved the onsen and subfloor heating. Check in was easy enough because there was the option of online pre-registration. The road to the house was windy but not too bad - note that the GPS in the rental car may not show you the way. We used Google maps and got there without difficulty. We were thankful to have a 4WD and snow tires, because there was ice on parts of the road. Highly recommend the place!"

"Room was a bit tight for 4 people. Normally the beds are prepared for sleeping at the end of the day but it was not the case in this hotel. Dinner and breakfast were good- big spread and delicious. "

"I love that this hotel was completely different than what I expected. Upon arriving I was pleasantly surprised by the bed & breakfast style of the hotel and the nostalgic memorabilia displayed throughout the hotel as well. The staff was very informative and accommodating to my needs while speaking english. I felt right at home. The free hot chocolate was delicious which I sipped graciously in the living room after a hot soak in the private onsen. I had such a relaxing experience. I am looking forward to visiting Yufuin again and returning to this hotel! "
