If you’re travelling with the kids and looking for a good day trip, Avonturenpark Hellendoorn is a great place to take them. It's just 20 km from Almelo and is a blast for the whole family. Very close to the theme park you’ll find the National Park De Sallandse Heuvelrug, where you can enjoy nature at its best.
About a 20 minute drive to the east of Almelo you’ll find a village with a very rich cultural heritage, loads of small alleyways lined with old buildings and lots of art galleries: Ootmarsum. The town is an absolute must! Drive out there on a Sunday afternoon or hire a bicycle and make a day trip out of it.
