"We loved the eclectic French theme of the design of our cottage, and the carefullly curated furnishings. All the cottages and other structures in the premises have been purposefully designed with a faux antique theme by the owner. The entire facility is tucked away from the main road, and is very quiet and charming. The owner is extremely personable and friendly. It was a pleasure getting to know him and his wife. I would strongly recommend this place for anyone looking for a quiet vacation spot to relax, or for a romantic getaway."

"The best experience I’ve had at a hotel in Japan. I have a halal diet and the staff were able to cater for this in the half-board meals provided. The staff in the cafeteria were great and I felt like I had a lovely experience being fussed over (they treated everyone kindly). The front desk staff were great and spoke good English. There is a free shuttle service to the airport but you have to let them know in advance when your flight is (if you’re arriving, notify them by email as they don’t respond to messages made through hotels.com). The hotel is also next to an important bus stop that takes you direct to Shiratani Unsuiko and also takes you to the place you have to make a transfer for Yakusugi land. I also loved my tatami room which had a spacious bathroom. "

"The Pros: The hotel is big, with wonderful mountain and ocean views. Rooms are big. The staff was mostly very courteous. The Cons: Built in the 1980s, the hotel doesn’t appear to have been renovated since then, giving it a “lost in time” feel. Very outdated facilities for charging electronic devices. Beds not comfortable. Food at the restaurant is expensive and mediocre. The hotel is also A LONG WAY from the ferry terminal (50 minutes) and the airport (35 minutes). Without a car, it would not be practical to reserve this accommodation. "

"The place is very quiet. I initially wanted to hike the Jomon Sugi trail, but with limited time and insufficient preparation, it wasn't possible. However, Kentaro was so very helpful in suggesting an alternative trekking itinerary. Hopefully I wasn't too annoying with my endless questions :)"

"I had a great stay at Minshuku Manten! The place is nice, quiet, & clean. They serve a lovely breakfast & the host is extremely nice. In regards to convenience, it’s 5 mins to the bus stop. But nothing is super convenient in Yakushima if you don’t have a car. Would recommend this place ☺️ "

"Spacious rooms, clean bathrooms and very friendly staff. Self serve laundry was a huge plus. Breakfast buffet had a little of options and was well stocked. We enjoyed our two nights here and would return to the same hotel if ever back in Yakushima. "

"Friendly staff and excellent service. Very nice property with spacious villas. Restaurant catered to our vegan diet. Good location from where to explore the island. Will return and highly recommend. "
