THE " Heavitree Gap Outback Lodge " was just such a refreshing place to stay at minimal cost. The staff at reception "LESLIE AND PAGE were so helpful and refreshingly honest in their attitude towards customers and their respective jobs.
The cleaning and room preparation was excellent and the cleaning staff were most obliging in providing extra service if there was a requirement.. such as sugar, tea, milk, blankets etc.
Kudos to the groundsmen for their efforts to keep all clean and tidy.
Nice place to spend the night while passing through Alice, helpful and nice staff and communicated instructions well when arriving in late. Rooms were clean and tidy, with plenty of room and the lodge was peaceful and far enough from the road there is little noise. Well recommended and no complaints!!
We arrived in time for the feeding of the wallabies which is why we booked this motel. It was wonderful to see the wallabies come down from the mountains. A real family experience. When we wanted to go to the town of Alice Springs, the owner of the site drove us and was so friendly and informative about sights to see on the way. The free shuttle service was a bonus and leaves at set times but not on Saturdays so we got a taxi for $20 into town. There is a well stocked supermarket and a tavern that sells reasonable pub grubAll the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. The wifi was not good as we only managed to access it once. If you want a room then check that it is not backing onto the road or if so go for rooms 107-113 as these are least noisy. For the price, Heavitree lodge is great.
A bit out from town but we walked it in under an hour. Rooms are brilliant and the girl at reception is very sound also. As far as value for money goes this place won't be beaten, clean rooms, pool, excellent price, brilliant!!
Close to the centre of Alice Spings for all your shopping needs Though the best feature of this Accommadation is the opurtunity to feed the local Rock Wallabies right at your front door. Great experiance for the young and old
I stayed here with my fiance the night before and the night after a week driving and camping in the outback. We picked up a hire car at Alice Springs airport and it was only a ten minute drive to Heavitree. It was another short drive to the central shopping area where we picked up supplies for our trip. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a motel room but there is also powered and non-powered camping available. The room had a double and two single beds so was more than big enough for the two of us. There is a tavern on site which does great breakfast and dinner. In the evenings they have live music as well. The highlight of staying here was feeding the wild rock wallabies that come into the site in the late afternoon. I would definitely stay here again.
It is a motel block in a caravan park but quite Ok for an overnight stop. The rooms are fairly large and have a double and a single bed in them and the prices (by NT standards) were reasonable. There are not many eating options nearby except for the pub in the complex that did good pub food.
Nice room, clean and tidy. Customer service was great, there was even a shuttle bus to and from town saving on waiting for a bus. Highlight was feeding wild rock wallabes by the side of the hotel!

Not happy Jan
For the price of the hotel it was OK, but you would not be able to charge any extra.
The rooms are due for a periodic clean, as we had cobwebs hanging from the ceiling and dust built up under furniture. The main problem with our room is that the bed was way to small, it must of been the smallest double bed you could get , our feet were hanging a foot over the end of the bed and the springs were digging in our backs. It was that uncomfortable we cancelled our last night and went elsewhere.
Our room was dirty and all the linen were moisty, but we fed the wallabies early in the morning and it was great!

Prettier view of the countryside and gap than if we,d stayed closer to the town. Long walk to town, but a nice one. Helpful front desk service.

All you need at fantastic value for money!
Compared to what we got at some of the other very expensive and so called "up market hotels" - this place is absolutely fantastic. We were very skeptical about the price at first and didn't know what to expect but was willing to risk it for one night. We were pleasantly surprised - although not the newest and most up market place, the value for money by comparison to the other very more expensive hotels in Alice Springs is light years ahead of the rest. The only disappointment we had was that we wasted money on a more expensive hotel a couple of nights before.
A simple, yet comfortable and very nice place to stay with value for money and everything you need.

don't expect much
Had no idea this would be a kind of "motel." Desk staff was really excellent but the place is old and very minimum accommodations though clean. Bathroom very small. There was a camping ground directly connected to the motel and we were quite a way out from the main area of Alice Springs. There is a small market for the campers where we bought a frozen dinner and used the microwave in our room (with dishes, etc.) and had a quick dinner in the room! The event of the day is the feeding of the small wild kangaroos! The whole area of Alice Springs is very small and "rustic." If you aren't looking for luxury and splendor, you will enjoy it! (Viator Tours offers a "Hop On-Hof-Off Tour" which is an excellent (and inexpensive)way to see the local area...and they pickup and dropoff at hotel!
