The Tuntex Sky Tower rises above the cityscape in the centre of Kaohsiung at a height of over 1,200 feet (365 metres). It is among the tallest skyscrapers in Taiwan and has an intriguing shape with two twin towers connected by a third tower that extends from above the centre. The shape was conceived to replicate a Chinese symbol that means “tall.”
The 85-story skyscraper holds offices and modern apartments for the affluent. A lavish hotel and department stores occupy many of the floors. Ride the high-speed elevator to the 74th story to find the observation deck. Spot your favourite attractions in the panoramic views of the city and Kaohsiung Harbour. Watch the sun set over the sea in the evening.
Choose to visit the tower as soon as you arrive in the city to orient yourself with the city’s different landmarks or do your sightseeing around the city before ascending the tower to be able to better recognise the attractions from above.
Capture photos of the tower as a dramatic feature of the skyline after the sun goes down. See the building illuminated in green light against a backdrop of the stars and the dark night sky.
After your visit, relax at a nearby coffee shop and watch passersby. Enjoy traditional Taiwanese tea and take pictures of the sea.
The site is also known as the T&C Tower and the 85 Sky Tower, in reference to the number of stories. Pay a reasonable fee to take the elevator up to the observation deck.
The Tuntex Sky Tower is located near the sea in the centre of Kaohsiung. Ride the metro to Sanduo Shopping District Station on the Red Line. The skyscraper is a 10-minute walk south from Central Park. There are also several bus stops nearby.
